CARES Act Unemployment Benefits:

The federal relief bill known as the CARES Act and unemployment insurance provisions took effect in WA state on April the 18th. The Unemployment Insurance website indicates that nearly all people whose jobs have been impacted by the Stay at Home Order and COVID-19 qualify, including those who under regular circumstances wouldn't be eligible. The "680 hour" rule, for example, is set aside during COVID-19, as is the weekly search for new work opportunities. An additional $600/week of a qualified claim will be awarded to those whose claims are accepted. Benefits are for anyone who has been put on standby, laid off of work, or whose job has been otherwise impacted by the Stay at Home Order. ALL applications are being processed online. The ESD Offices remain closed. Even those who may have filed a claim prior to April 18th, should consider reapplying under the new CARES Act stipulations. more information, including an eligibility checker is at esd.wa.gov.  (All information in this post courtesy of the ESDWAGOV website).
